Recent studies have shown that the estimated medical transcription salary in New Hampshire is roughly $35,220 per year, which is about $16.94 per hour. Above and beyond this; however, more experienced MTs in the state reported earning about $44,250 in 2009. This represented a 20% increase over New Hampshire’s state average, so there is definite potential for those that choose medical transcription as their career path.

Recently, the National Center for Health Statistics determined that only about 34.8% of medical professionals are currently using an electronic health record system. However, that did represent about a 19% increase over the 2006 estimate. Furthermore, just 3.4% of these professionals reported that their system met the requirements for being fully-functional and achieving meaningful use. At this point, you may be wondering what this has to do with medical transcription. Well, medical transcriptionists are at the forefront of operating these systems as they attempt to produce clear, concise medical records.

With new federal regulations in place, it is likely that the adoption rate of EHRs will continue to grow over the next few years. Medical transcriptionists who can learn how to efficiently operate these systems will be crucial to the medical profession, and essentially entitled to a great deal of financial incentive.
