Physical Therapist Assistants in New Hampshire are not required to have a Bachelor's degree to practice; they only need an Associate's degree, which takes two to three years to complete. Associate's degree programs combine liberal arts classes with courses in musculoskeletal pathology, orthotics, prosthetics, pathophysiology, anatomy, therapeutic exercise, physiology, ethics, and kinesiology. Students also receive training from licensed Physical Therapists in their clinical externships.

Physical Therapist Assistant programs typically require their students to go through multiple externships in areas that are specific to a student's interests. Students normally complete these alongside their courses. There are several New Hampshire physical therapy assistant schools available.

Once Physical Therapist Assistants become licensed in the State of New Hampshire, they have to obtain continuing education units to stay current with changes in their profession. New Hampshire requires its practitioners to gain 24 CEUs for every two-year licensing period. Practitioners can gain these by studying independently, going through on-the-job training or attending classes, educational seminars, symposiums, and conferences offered by American Physical Therapy Association, American Osteopathic Association, or another State-approved agency.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Physical Therapy Assistants in Manchester, Nashua, East Concord, Concord and Derry Village, New Hampshire may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Concord Hospital, Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Catholic Medical Center and Cheshire Medical Center.
