Cardiovascular technologist schools in New Jersey offer Bachelor's degrees and post-secondary certificates for anyone who aspires to grow into this rewarding career. Students interested in obtaining either accreditation can expect to spend one to four years in one of two programs approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP,, studying everything from vascular anatomy to vascular pathophysiology, diagnostics, and therapeutics.

Students in cardiovascular tech certificate programs spend one to two years in school. When a student studies to become a cardiovascular technician through a certificate program, she gains technical skills and knowledge through on-site clinical training and a set of cardiovascular tech-specific classes. Since she is not required to take general education classes, her program will be much shorter than that of a student obtaining his Bachelor's degree.

Though a Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Tech is not completely necessary for this field, the degree itself is becoming increasingly popular. Bachelor's degree students spend three to five years preparing for their careers. In that time, they balance general education courses (history, English, mathematics, etc.) with major courses and clinical study. The result of balancing such a triad is a stronger, more well-rounded education that can present students with more opportunities in the future.
