After completing two years of college, you will be accepted into one of the Physician Assistant programs in New Jersey, which lasts approximately two years.  Throughout the two years, future Physician Assistants will complete coursework in contagious diseases, medical ethics, and physical diagnosis.  A large portion of the Physician Assistant programs in New Jersey include clinical experience in many different medical fields such as geriatrics, prenatal care and gynecology, emergency medicine, and pediatrics.  Physician Assistants will need to know about a variety of medical fields, as they are employed in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories and serve in many different fields.  After employment is achieved, further study in a specific field may be required.
