The state guidelines and requirements in New Mexico for Personal Trainers are very simple. The requirements include the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent to it for employment in this profession. However, employers often look for higher education other than a high school diploma. Through educational training to become a Personal Trainer, an associate’s or bachelor’s degree can be achieved. Employers also look for certifications when hiring Personal Trainers. In New Jersey, personal trainer certification can be acquired after achieving a degree or certificate program. Although it’s not a requirement to acquire certification, the outlook of a career and the income potential is greater for those that are certified.
New Mexico Educational Training for Personal Trainers
The state guidelines in New Mexico only require a personal trainer to have acquired a high school diploma in order to work in the profession. However, most employers look for Professional Trainers that have some form of training in the profession. Many educational programs designed for Personal Trainers result in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in health or fitness. The courses included within these programs are Sports Nutrition, Weight Training, and Fitness Assessment. Sports Injuries, Exercise Physiology, and Strength Education are also included within these programs. The requirements in these programs include achieving CPR certification and AED certification.
New Mexico Personal Trainer Certification
After successfully completing a bachelor’s degree, CPR certification, and AED certification an exam can be taken to achieve a Personal Trainer Certification. The re-certification exam will need to be taken every two years in order for the certification to remain valid. Often, further education will be sought before taking the recertification exam. After the Personal Trainer Certification Exam has been taken and passed, Personal Trainers have an increased career and income potential.
