New York Dental Assistants Schools
There are two acceptable pathways according to New York State Law to meet the educational requirement:
- Complete a one-year (24 credit hour) educational program including biomedical sciences, professional dental assisting, clinical training, courses on oral and written communication modes and at least 200 hours of experiential clinic time. There are a number of dental assistant schools in New York.
- OR an alternative educational course that has been approved by the New York State Education Department and 1000 hours of work experience that is relevant to the dental assisting career, which has been directly supervised by a licensed dentist.

As a dental assistant you must reapply and pay to renew your dental assisting license every 3 years in New York.
