New York Military Occupational Therapy Careers
Occupational therapists are in demand to work with returning war veterans with combat-related injuries. This work requires a sensitive type of person who can work well not only with the injured veteran, but also with his/her family in adjusting to such traumatic changes in their lives. To assess the extent to which the clients disability impacts their participation in day-to-day activities and how it effects things of importance to him/her, devising a plan to develop the skills they will need to become as independent as possible requires an especially astute individual.
In New York there are three centers addressing this need. They are Guthrie Army Health Clinic in Ft. Drum, Keller Army Hospital at West Point, and VAMC Buffalo in Buffalo.
