Physician Assistant Education in New York - NY

A Physician Assistant can serve in a wide variety of settings, serving communities in everything from prenatal and gynecology to geriatrics and oncology. Because of this variety, the educational training programs offered by Physician Assistant schools in New York must include intensive training in many different medical fields and settings. The coursework in these Physicain Assistant schools in New York will have students studying biochemistry, human anatomy, mathematics, and physiology. Students will earn a minimum of 32 classroom hours during the training, which takes at least two years to complete. In addition to the classroom hours, students will spend at least 40 weeks in a supervised clinical setting, accruing a minimum of 1600 clinical hours. During the clinical experience, students will spend time in many different medical settings, learning about many different medical fields. Some of the training areas may include pediatrics, emergency medicine, internal medicine, or family medicine.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Physician Assistants in New York, Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers and Syracuse, New York may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Presbyterian Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Brookdale Hospital.
