In North Carolina, physician assistants must renew their licenses annually within 30 days of their birthdays.  The renewal fee is $100, and an additional $20 will be charged if the renewal application is late.  If physician assistants have their File ID Numbers and a credit card, they can complete the renewal process online at the NCMB website.  Continuing education requirements for physician assistants are relatively stringent compared to continuing education for many other occupations in the health care industry.  Every two years, PAs must complete 100 hours of continuing education.  Forty of these hours must be administered by the AAPA.
