Physician Assistant Education in North Carolina - NC

Although physician assistants work under the supervision of regular physicians, they must be every bit as capable as any other medical doctor. Therefore, the education process through physician schools in North Carolina can be rigorous. Aspiring Physician assistants must show an aptitude in biology and chemistry early in high school. After high school, it is usually expected that students complete a four-year bachelor’s degree in one of the life sciences.
Most programs offered by physician assistant schools in North Carolina are two-year courses of study taken after a bachelor’s degree. Virtually all of them are master’s degrees; however, there are a few programs that will offer a bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies or an associate’s degree. Regardless of the name of the degree, the program must be accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.
