Nurse Practitioner Salaries in Oregon - OR
A nurse practitioner salary in Oregon affords a comfortable lifestyle, but is variable. One can get a sense of both opportunity and compensation by searching job postings through the Oregon.gov site. A recent search (December 2010) turned up a number of nationally advertised positions that listed hourly wages that were dependent upon experience. In all but one of these, the minimum hourly wage listed was above $30.00. In some cases, the maximum was above $50.00. A nurse practitioner position in Eugene, for instance, was listed at $35.46 to $49.64. One in Springfield was listed at $37.58 to $52.29. Another in Seaside fell in the $34.90 to $56.71 range.
Nurse practitioners are registered nurses who have advanced training and generally higher than average salaries. The following shows BLS salary figures for Oregon registered nurses who are at the 50th and 90th percentile, salary-wise:
- Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area: $35.20-$46.02
- Greater Portland metropolitan area: $36.55-$47.95
- Salem: $34.51-$43.46
Compensation frequently includes benefits as well as salary. According to a 2010 survey by the AANP, medical insurance and paid vacation time were among the most frequent benefits. Bonuses are sometimes earned in addition to base salary.
