Find the right school for you
Even though Delaware is the second smallest state in the nation, students that are looking for nurse practitioner schools here will find many different educational and training programs available to them through online schools, as well as state and private universities. On-campus opportunities are largely found in the state’s bigger cities like Newark and Wilmington. Here students can choose from a wide-variety of master degree programs with concentrations in many nurse practitioner specialties, although a doctorate program will also be offered as well in the Fall of 2011. Those that do not yet have a specialty degree can earn one by graduating from programs like Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner, Master of Science in Nursing: Adult Nurse Practitioner, Master of Science in Nursing: Neonatal Practitioner, and Master of Science in Nursing: Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.
By earning an MSN degree, nurse practitioners can qualify to become licensed professionals. However, many professionals further their career opportunities by completing post-master certificate programs. In Delaware, nurse practitioners can enter into one or more of these beneficial certificate tracks: Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner, Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing: Adult Nurse Practitioner, and Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing: Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. Furthermore, those that have already acquired specialty education but aspire to earn certificates in another area can do so by taking advantage of one of these bridge certificate programs: Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing: Adult Nurse Practitioner to Family Nurse Practitioner, Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing: Adult Nurse Practitioner to Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing: Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to Family Nurse Practitioner, and Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing: Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner to Family Nurse Practitioner.
