Nursing schools in Wyoming house both a baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs that are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Through Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree programs, students may select one of three options: basic BSN degree (120 credit hours), accelerated BSN degree (58 credit hours), or a RN-BSN completion degree (120 credit hours). Universities also offer graduate-level nursing degree programs such as the Master of Science in Nursing: Nurse Practitioner, and Master of Science in Nursing: Nurse Educator. In addition, upon receiving a graduate degree, students can continue their education by earning a Post-Master’s Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner (43 credit hours) or a Post-Master Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (42 credit hours).
There are also state and community colleges in cities like Riverton, Cheyenne, Gillette, Sheridan, and Powell that offer students nursing programs that will result in the following academic awards: Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (two years), Associate of Science in Nursing (two years), Associate Degree in Nursing (two-three years), and Certificate in Practical Nursing. After formal education and training, Wyoming nurses inclined to work in more populous cities such as Rock Springs, Gillette, Laramie, Casper, and Cheyenne may start researching possible career opportunities at such principal medical centers and hospitals as Wyoming Medical Center, Saint John’s Medical Center, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, and Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
