Oklahoma Nurse Informatics Certification - OK
Working in nurse informatics in Oklahoma requires licensure (as a registered nurse) and certification. The American Nurses Credentialing Center offers the nurse informatics certification. One of the eligibility requirements for this certification is that you must have a current and valid registered nurse (RN) licensure.
In Oklahoma, RNs must renew their license every two years. The other requirements are as follows:
- Must have 2 years experience as a registered nurse
- Have at least bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
- Complete 30 hours of continuing education
- Complete 2000 hours of field experience in nursing informatics or 1000 hours with 12 credits from a graduate level nursing informatics program or 200 hours with a graduate level nursing informatics degree
The last two requirements must be completed within the last three years. If all requirements are meant, and the application (with $390 fee), official transcripts, and photocopy of RN licensure submitted, the ANCC will notify you that you are able to sit for the certification exam. Once you pass the exam, certification is granted. To maintain certification you must renew it every 5 years. To do this you must submit a renewal application with $350 and complete 150 hours of continuing education. There is not a specific Oklahoma nursing informatics certification; rather it is all done through the previously mentioned organizations.
