Now that you are interested in a career as a pharmacy technician, you need to decide which school you should attend. But what type of education do you need? This is a common question among students interested in working as pharmacy techs.
The first thing you need to understand is what level of education pharmaceutical employers are going to be looking for. Most pharmacy technician schools in Ontario offer a variety of educational programs, including the certificate, associate’s, and bachelor’s degree. Each of these educational levels is suitable for entry-level employment, but most all students in Ontario choose either the certificate option or the associate degree.
With a certificate or associate degree, pharmacy tech students can be done with their education in as little as 10 months, possibly even 6 months depending on the school. The benefit to this option is that it is fast paced, and it gets students into the workforce quicker. Because most certificate programs are available online, pharmacy tech students in Ontario find this option to be the most comprehensive, expedient option to jumpstart their careers.
