Oregon LPN Education and Degrees

In Oregon, the minimum level of education allowed for this profession is a certificate earned either online or through Oregon LPN schools. Most of these certificates take only one year of time to obtain. However, you also have the option of working towards and associate’s degree or higher. A degree of this nature usually takes about two years of schooling and can lead into becoming an RN, or Registered Nurse.

You should also be sure not to overlook the option of virtual education. This is a growing trend in the United States, and many nursing students have found that the courses taught online are just as comprehensive, if not more, than that of traditional schools. In addition, the Board does approve a variety of online schools which are based in Oregon.

As a student, the Board states that you must graduate from an accredited nursing program. The only agency that is qualified in the State of Oregon to make such an accreditation is the Board itself. In addition, the Board is also very firm on Oregon residents attending only schools that are located in Oregon. They do this mainly because out of state schools usually lack sufficient state-specific information to Oregon.

If, however, you happen to stumble across a school that peaks your interest but is not located in Oregon, the Board will allow you to confer with them about approving it.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Licensed Practical Nurses in Portland, Salem, Eugene and Gresham, Oregon may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center, Oregon Health & Science University Hospital, Sacred Heart Medical Center and Salem Hospital.
