Of course, some primary course work can be completed through web based  online or satellite campus programs. Higher level classes and degrees will require a thorough knowledge of skeletal positioning – there are eleven specific MRI procedures solely for the head and neck region and several different types of imaging that may be used for diagnostics. Also required will be crucial safety and precautions, accuracy in geometry and mathematics, and some level of machine maintenance and/or troubleshooting.

All of Oregon’s MRI technician schools and training programs will make sure that graduates comply with necessary regulations on the state and national levels. A great resource for requirements and certifications along with specific statues is: http://landru.leg.state.or.us/ors/688.html.

The site outlines licensing and renewal qualifications, standardized procedures, and qualifications of machinist operators. Oregon offers limited X-ray machine operators permit; licensing of radiographer with general and limited parameters as well as Associates’ and Bachelor degree programs. Continuing education is monitored as part of the certification and license renewal process. Oregon State performs inspections and compliance enforcement. There is a strong system of checks and balances for licensed practitioners. The state also holds the power to require fingerprints as part of certification/registry process.
