The first step to becoming licensed as a radiologic technologist in the state of Oregon is to first become certified as a radiologic technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This step requires that the applicant first graduate from an accredited Oregon radiology tech training program, and then successfully passing the ARRT certification examination for radiologic technologists.
Once this is completed, then the applicant must fill out an application for initial licensure as a radiologic technologist, available from the Oregon Board of Radiologic Technologists. In addition to submitting the completed application, the applicant must also submit a copy of the current ARRT registration card along with the appropriate licensure fee. The fee will be dependent on the applicant’s birth date and date of application, so please consult the Oregon Board of Radiologic Technologists for the appropriate fee. The application will ask for such information as social security number and other personal information, verification of education, employment information (if applicable), and information about any misdemeanor or felony convictions (if applicable).
Once the application is received, along with a copy of the ARRT-certification card and licensure application fee, the Oregon Board of Radiologic Technologists will take approximately ten days to process the application and perform a criminal background check. At this point, the applicant will either be notified of deficiencies in the application, or will be awarded a license as a practicing radiologic technologist.
