Pediatric nurse practitioners programs in Arizona are open to all registered nurses in the state, whether they live in Tucson, Mesa, Phoenix, Glendale or other parts of Arizona. All PNPs must have a graduate nursing degree, such as a Master of Science in Nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice, in order to become licensed in Arizona. Graduate level education can take 12 to 24 months to complete, depending upon whether or not you already possess an undergraduate nursing degree. Training for pediatric nurse practitioners includes both classroom, didactic courses and practical, experiential courses.

Programs that educate pediatric nurse practitioners in Arizona are located within the state and online. Currently, there are two brick-and-mortar programs that specifically train pediatric nurse practitioners and are listed as approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing, but other online programs have been approved.

Most, if not all, programs will require some in-person time of the student, when students fulfill their clinical requirements at medical facilities in Arizona. Some of the medical facilities that could possibly be used in clinical experiences include Maricopa Medical Center, Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Tucson Medical Center and Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Practical experience gained during clinical experiences is usually supervised by a licensed nurse practitioner or by a physician.
