Pediatric Nurse Annual Salary Rhode Island - RI By Susan Maphis, allied health world contributing writer Published: December 22nd, 2010

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the U.S. Department of Labor states that, in 2009, there were 11,630 registered nurses in the state making an average annual income of $68,830. The BLS registered nurse category includes nurse practitioners, which would lead one to believe that this salary correctly reflects the pediatric nurse salary in Rhode Island. However, nursing salaries for nurse practitioners, including pediatric nurse practitioners, are usually greater than those of registered nurses.

When looking at the average pediatric nurse practitioner salary on indeed.com, it is cited as being approximately $95,000 annually. This figure seems more in keeping with the trend of what pediatric nurse practitioners make nationwide. Salaries tend to differ for all kinds of nurse practitioners, including pediatric nurse practitioners, depending upon the setting in which one works, the city or rural area where one’s practice is located, one’s educational degree (i.e., a master’s degree holder makes less than a doctoral degree holder) and one’s years of experience.

Indeed.com lists the average pediatric nurse practitioner salaries in the following Rhode Island cities:

  • Warwick:  $86,000
  • Providence:  $83,000
  • Pawtucket:  $84,000
  • Cranston:  $84,000

Indeed.com also lists openings for pediatric nurse practitioners across Rhode Island, and currently cites the following availabilities:

  • Nurse Practitioner I – Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Providence
  • Pediatrics Assistant Professor Nurse Practitioner – Rhode Island College School of Nursing
