Those holding a psychology degree in Connecticut are not required to do continuing education contact hours in order to renew licensure. Though the Department of Public Health does require those working as a marital and family therapist or a professional counselor to complete 15 contact hours of continuing education within 1 year (prior to renewal). Acceptable continuing education activities for those holding a psychology degree in Connecticut would include, lecture, or symposium given or approved by associations like the American Association for Marriage and Family, the Commission on Accreditation for Marital and Family Therapist Education, or National Board of Certified Counselors. Licensure must be renewed every year with the Department of Public Health (DPH). Renewal is not available online yet with the DPH, but renewal applications are sent out 60 days prior to expiration. Applications must be completed and sent to the DPH with a renewal fee of $565.
