How to Renew A License In Psychology In The State of Idaho

Continuing education is taken very seriously in this state where the expectation is that individuals holding a psychology degree in Idaho remain up to date on current research and issues related to the dynamic field of Psychology. Unlike many states, which require a license be renewed every two or three years, Idaho insists that licenses be renewed every year by your birthday. The Idaho Board of Psychologist Examiners will cancel a license if the appropriate paperwork is not received before your birthday, requiring a hefty fine to reinstate the canceled license. Before renewal is considered, all individuals must earn 20 Continuing Education units. Idaho requires that the majority of your Continuing Education units be earned in a course with a set roster that is offered through a university or an accredited state, regional or national psychology association. Individuals wanting to earn Continuing Education credits through other means must write to the Board for approval before the units will be considered. To renew your license before your birthday, fill out a renewal form online, pay the appropriate fees, and sign an affidavit regarding your Continuing Education units. At this time, you are not required to provide proof of completion for the Continuing Education units, but save the proof anyway. The Idaho Board of Psychologist Examiners reserves the right to audit individuals at anytime.
