Those considering a psychology degree in Kentucky will find it interesting to note that since 1932, the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA) has stood for the interests of psychologists in the state. The activities of KPA members include work in psychiatric hospitals and medical centers, teaching and research in universities, government and business consultation, direct clinical service provision in community care centers or private practice, and expert testimony provision.

Continuing Education

Recipients of a psychology degree in Kentucky are required to complete at least 30 hours of continuing education during each three-year renewal period. The continuing education requirements must:

  • Include at least three hours in the area of risk management or ethical practice.
  • Provide licensees with content that is specifically evaluated and planned to expand their competence as a professional.
  • Allow for the achievement of new knowledge and skills that are required by the Board.
  • Enhance critical inquiry and balanced judgment habits.
