Continuing Education and Renewal of Licensure for Psychologists
Practitioners who hold a psychology degree in South Carolina must renew their licenses every two years. The renewal process can be done online and has a fee of $300. However, continuing education credits are required for renewal. Twenty-four credits must be completed and approved by the South Carolina Board of Psychology every two years. In South Carolina, credits are divided into two categories. Category A credits are more formal and include activities such as additional graduate course work or APA training programs. Category B credits are more informal and include activities such as publishing non-referred publications and self-study courses. At least 12 of the 24 credits must be from Category A, and carry over from previous renewal periods is not allowed.
