Continuing Education

Individuals considering a Psychology degree in Tennessee should know that they’ll need to complete 40 hours of continuing education credits every two years to maintain their license. Each 40-hour set of continuing education needs to be acquired in the two calendar years (January 1 through December 31) before the year of licensure renewal.

Military Information

According to getdegrees.com, military personnel who served in the Armed Forces of the United States on or after September 12, 2001 could be eligible for the new Montgomery GI Bill, which includes a stipend for college tuition and fees, college books and supplies up to $1,000 per year, and monthly housing.  This can contribute significantly to paying down the cost of earning a psychology degree in Tennessee

To be eligible, Armed Forces personnel need to have served at least 90 days in active duty following September 11, 2001. They must also meet one of the following criteria:

  • Remain on active duty.
  • Released or discharged from the Armed Forces, provided that the release or discharge was due to Hardship, Condition Interfered with Duty, or Existed Prior to Service.
  • Released via honorable discharge from the Armed Forces.
  • Released via honorable discharge to serve in the reserves.
  • Placed on the retired list or temporary disability retired list, or transferred to Fleet Reserve or Fleet Marine Corps Reserve following an honorable service release.

Personnel who served in the Armed Forces for at least 30 days following September 11, 2001 may be able to take advantage of the new GI Bill as well, provided that their discharge was a result of a disability that was service-related.
