Virginia Psychologist Continuing Education
Those holding a psychology in Virginia are issued a two year license by the Virginia Board of Psychology. The license must be renewed biennially in addition to completing the required 14 hours of continuing education. At least 1.5 hours must be in courses that emphasize ethics, standards or practice, or laws governing the profession of psychology in Virginia. Up to half of the required continuing education hours can be earned at home or online.
Virginia Psychological Association
The Virginia Psychological Association (VPA) is the parent organization for the varied interests of psychology, including Virginia Academic and Applied Psychologists (VAAP), Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists (VACP), and Virginia Academy of School Psychologists. Members must hold a psychology degree in Virginia and be active in at least one of the three. The goal of all is, “the advancement of psychology as a science and profession and as a means of promoting human welfare” in the state of Virginia.
