Illinois Psychology Schools – IL

In order to become a licensed psychologist in Illinois applicants must have graduated from a doctoral program through an accredited online school or one of the psychology schools in Illinois. Their chosen specialty can be school, counseling, or clinical psychology. The program offered by one of the various psychology schools in Illinois must be accredited by the American Psychological Association or the Council for the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. The degree must satisfy seven core content areas:
- Professional and scientific ethics in psychology.
- Biological basis of behavior (which can include physiological psychology, neuropsychology, comparative psychology, psychopharmacology, and sensation and perception).
- Cognitive-affective basis of behavior (which can include emotion, motivation, thinking, and learning).
- Social basis of behavior (which can include organizational and systems theory, social psychology, and group processes).
- Individual differences (which can include theories of normal and abnormal functioning of personality).
- Assessment (which can include the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological test batteries for mental ability diagnosis and personality functioning, and instruction in clinical interviewing,).
- Treatment modalities (which can include instruction and application of behavioral, emotional, or mental nervous disorder treatment).
