In Kentucky, social science workers – including psychologists – make an average of $25.12 an hour. This wage is 38 percent higher than the average Kentucky employee, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. This much-higher-than-average rate of pay is an interesting thing to consider for those considering attendance at one of the psychology schools in Kentucky.

The Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology (http://psy.ky.gov/) requires the following of Kentucky residents before becoming licensed psychologists in the state:

  • Earn a doctoral degree in the field of psychology from a college or university that is regionally accredited.
  • Obtain two or more years of supervised professional experience that is deemed acceptable by the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology. One of those years must consist of postdoctoral experience.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Psychologists in Louisville, Lexington and Owensboro, Kentucky may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including Norton Hospital, Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, and Owensboro Medical Health.
