Fulfilling the educational requirements of Psychology schools in Nebraska is no easy task. You must first earn a doctoral degree from a college that is accredited by the American Psychological Association. For a university Psychology program to become accredited by the American Psychological Association, it must contain adequate training in all of the major types of Psychology, including but not limited to clinical Psychology, developmental Psychology, social Psychology, and behavioral Psychology. The Psychology doctoral program typically takes about two years to complete, on top of the bachelors and/or Master’s degrees that you may have already obtained. Once the doctoral program through one of the Psychology schools in Nebraska has been completed, it is time for you to find a supervisor. This supervisor is someone who is currently licensed and practicing Psychology.
For two years after you have earned a doctorates degree, you must work with your supervisor, being observed and having regular meetings to critique and develop your skills to practice Psychology in a real clinical setting. At some point during your doctoral training or observation period, you will need to take The Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology, or EPPP. This examination is given to future Psychologists nationwide and is offered through the American Psychological Association and consists of 200 multiple-choice questions covering the important aspects of practicing Psychology. In addition to the national examination, individuals seeking to practice as a Psychologist in Nebraska must also take a 2 part examination to complete the application process for licensure. The examination contains both a multiple-choice test and an oral test.
