New York Psychology Schools – NY

The applicant’s doctoral degree earned through psychology schools in New York must consist of at least 40 doctoral credit hours that were specifically in the area of psychology. It must have taken place with a doctoral program offered through psychology schools in New York that require personal attendance at the institution that granted the degree.
Of the 40 credit hours, applicants must have received six credits from each of the following graduate study areas:
- Psychopathology
- Psychological therapy/counselor or industrial/organizational psychology
- Personality theory and human development theory
- Leaning theory and/or physiological psychology
- Research and statistical design
- Psychological measurement and psychological assessment
New York applicants must also prove that they have taken another 20 credit hours in the field of psychology, but these are not required to have been part of a doctoral program. These credits may have been provided at a pre- or post-doctoral graduate level, and they must have been acquired in a regionally accredited organization as part of its education program.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Psychologists in New York, Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers and Syracuse, New York may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Presbyterian Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Brookdale Hospital.
