According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the radiologic technologist salary in Massachusetts is the highest in the nation. The BLS reports that in May 2009, Massachusetts had 6290 radiologic technologists and technicians, each making an average annual salary of $68,530 or $32.95 per hour. This salary is quite exceptional considering that radiologic technologists in Massachusetts need only a two-year degree to enter the field.

As an interesting side note, the BLS reports that the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy metropolitan area has the third highest salary of any metropolitan area in the United States. Its 3380 radiologic technologists and technicians earn approximately $34.88 hourly or $72,540 yearly. Peabody’s 200 radiologic technologists and technicians earn the fifth highest salary of any metropolitan area in the U.S, at $33.54 hourly or $69,760 annually.
