In order to become a physical therapist in the state of Rhode Island, a student must attend an accredited school with the goal of completing a master’s degree in physical therapy. This level of degree usually takes around 5 to 6 years to accomplish; however, a Rhode Island student may also elect to start off as an undergraduate in a related health field.
If a student chooses to start with undergraduate studies, an additional three years of study will be required to obtain a master’s degree in physical therapy. While there are not any Rhode Island physical therapy schools in a bricks-and-mortar type, there are a variety of online universities that offer physical therapy degrees.
Physical therapists in Rhode Island are required to renew their state licensure every calendar year and the cost for doing so is $90. In addition to renewing every year, every physical therapist in Rhode Island must complete 24 continuing education credit requirements every two years.
