A typical full-time program offered through Physician Assistant schools in Rhode Island will take two years to complete. The curriculum consists of classes in pathophysiology, genetics, immunology, patient evaluation, clinical medicine, pediatric medicine, psychiatric medicine, pharmacology, and radiology. Physician Assistant students also participate in grand rounds and clinical internships throughout the course of their study.

Physician Assistants licensed through the NCCPA must gain 100 hours of continuing medical education before the end of each licensing period.  Continuing education classes are often available at the same Physician Assistant schools that offer initial Master’s programs. These individuals must gain all their credits through the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAPFP), American Osteopathic Association Committee on Continuing Medical Education (AOACCME), or another NCCPA and State-approved organization.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Physician Assistants in Providence, Warwick, Cranston and Pawtucket, Rhode Island may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Rhode Island Hospital, Kent Hospital, Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and The Miriam Hospital.
