Certified Public Health (CPH) in Rhode Island
Certified Public Health designations are of great benefit not only to those pursuing Rhode Island public health careers, but also to the public they intend to serve. The certification process proves your skills and capabilities in Public Health. While you may choose to minor in Public health or seek an undergraduate degree, you will lack the necessary education for certification as a CPH.
Employers tend to look favorably on the candidate that holds the CPH designation as it assures the employer of a high degree of competency.
In order to qualify, you must follow these steps:
- Complete your Masters or PHD in Public Health from an accredited school.
- Apply by July 31 in the year you plan to take the National Board of Public Health Examiners Certified in Public Health exam
- Present your transcripts to the Board so they can verify your education.
- Complete an online application at www.publichealthexam.org
- Receive your confirmation email that your application has been received.
- Wait for the “scheduling permit” to come by mail. When you receive this, this is your ticket to gain entrance into the exam.
- Successful passing score on the exam allows you to add the designation of “Certified in Public Health” (CPH).
