Educational Requirements for Veterinary Technicians in Rhode Island

The state of Rhode Island requires that certified veterinary technicians complete at minimum, a high school education.  An associate degree can be completed at any AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) approved institution.  Distance learning is also an option for those interested in pursuing the educational requirements of a veterinary technician in Rhode Island.  The typical time to complete an associate degree is between sixteen and twenty-four months.  Students that go on to complete a four year bachelor degree program can opt for certification as a veterinary technologist.

In a Rhode Island veterinary technician associate program, general course requirements may include courses in:
