The Master of Social Work program offers curriculum that prepares you for professional practice in a variety of social work settings. When you complete the master’s program, you will have earned the Advanced Generalist Master of Social Works degree (MSW). This degree is available both on university campuses and part-time distance or online programs. The admission requirements for the masters program include:

  • Earning a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited program
  • An undergraduate GPA of 2.75
  • A course in human biology
  • A statistics course with a “C” or higher

The masters program will build on the coursework you studied while earning your BSW. The requirements for the master’s degree include 36 credit hours of courses approved by the social work faculty of the school you attend. You will need to earn at least a 3.00 grade point average on all courses. The number of electives you need is dependent on whether you choose an independent study or thesis option.
