South Carolina has adopted the most lax regulations available in the United States regarding training and licensure of massage therapists.  Upon completion of a 500-hour training program either online or through a South Carolina Massage School, and after passing the NCE or the Federation of States Examination for Massage/Bodywork, you will be able to apply for a license to practice massage therapy in South Carolina.  Once you have received your license, you are free to practice in the state of South Carolina.

Continuing Education Requirements for Massage Therapists in South Carolina

South Carolina does not require any continuing education for massage therapists to be relicensed.  However it is a good idea to continue to expand your areas of expertise to expand your client base and also to keep up with the newest techniques available.  The South Carolina Chapter of the AMTA provides at least 2 continuing education opportunities per year.  Many of the massage therapy schools in South Carolina also offer continuing education opportunities to graduates of an approved massage therapy program.
Settings for work can be a typical clinic or spa setting, your own studio or room in your home, your clients’ homes, or even a public place such as an airport or shopping mall.  Many massage therapists employ some mix of these venues, a perfect situation for the person who enjoys something different every day.  South Carolina requires the minimum allowed requirements for obtaining licensure, allowing someone ready to work to get through training and their examination more quickly than in other states.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Massage Therapists in Columbia, Charleston, North Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Roper Hospital, Palmetto Health, Providence Hospital and Medical University of South Carolina.

We currently have no schools offerings in SC for this career path at this time. (Check back with us)
