Becoming a Personal Trainer in South Carolina

Though in South Carolina personal trainer certification is not a requirement for employment because there is no licensing , certified personal trainers are viewed as more qualified and are paid more as a result. However, unlike most medical and wellness degrees, certification in this field is measured in days and weeks, not months and years.

There are several routes to getting certified. Which one is right for you will likely be determined by how much time and money you have to devote to your training and what your goals are following completion of your program. For example, if you see yourself as self-employed, you may not need an advanced degree, but if you want to work for a specific gym that guarantees its patrons only the highest trained instructors, you may have to choose a more advanced path.

In short, your options are as follows:

Quick Certification

There are a number of programs that only take days or weeks to finish, an option that appeals to people who are either short on time or who don't want to be saddled with any more debt. This option is great for people coming out of the military, recent graduates (who can't think about any more school!), people with a strong foundation of health and fitness, or anyone who wants to launch their personal training career right away.

Getting South Carolina Persoanl Trainer Certification

While trainers are completing their coursework, they should be thinking about what certification  pursue. Which one is more appropriate for them? Often, this simply comes down to which you can afford.  Some are reasonably priced (around $300) but others may carry with them a bit more notoriety or qualify a recipient in more advanced fields but may be more expensive and require a more comprehensive test to obtain. Prospective trainers should ask themselves what they can afford now and if it would be worth it in the long run to obtain a more specialized certification.
