The state of South Carolina requires that students take and pass an approved an accredited educational course in order to be eligible to receive their physical therapist license. The degree must consist of a minimum of 120 semester credit hours of education and 42 of these credits should be general education courses. The number of educational credits pertaining to the profession of physical therapy must be at least 69.  After the semester credits have been finished, the student will then be eligible to apply for the licensure process in South Carolina.  There are not many South Carolina physical therapy schools, however, there are a variety of online options.

South Carolina Physical Therapist Continuing Education

South Carolina keeps a tight rein on their physical therapists by demanding that continuing educational requirements be fulfilled. A physical therapist in South Carolina is required to complete a minimum of three credit hours every two years in order to keep the physical therapy license.

These credits cannot be taken all at one time, but rather 15 of them must be completed every calendar year. During that year, the Board will sent out a renewal license application and physical therapists wishing to retain their license must show proof of the course work and also pay the allotted fee of $100 per year.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Physical Therapists in Columbia, Charleston, North Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Roper Hospital, Palmetto Health, Providence Hospital and Medical University of South Carolina.
