Many know Tennessee as home to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the Cherokee National Forest, and the Cumberland Gap National Park, as well as one of the states where adventurers regularly hike the Appalachian Trail. However, along with great natural beauty and southern hospitality, Tennessee also has much to offer for those in the healthcare sector who are considering careers here, particularly those interested in careers in healthcare management in Tennessee.

Health care management is ranked among the top 50 best jobs in America and by 2012, six out of 10 of the fastest growing occupations in Tennessee are projected to be in health care. Healthcare is a growing industry and Tennessee is home to over 30 major healthcare companies that own or operate almost half of the investor-owned hospitals in the United States.

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that jobs for medical health services managers in health care administration will grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2010.  Growth in residential care facilities, long-term care, and nontraditional health organizations such as managed care operations and consulting firms are among those considered to be areas of growth, and all are potential employment opportunities for healthcare administrators.
