Medical Assistant’s Salary in Tennessee - TN

The Bureau of Labor Statistics conducted a study in May 2009 that showed the average annual medical assistant salary in Tennessee to be $27,120; meaning that the average hourly pay rate was around $13.04 per hour.  According to this study, employment for medical assistants is expected to rise 34% through the year 2018, which means that job opportunities should be very favorable during this time frame. Of note, medical assistants with a couple of years of hands-on experience may find themselves earning more than $35,300 annually.

In 2007, a study found that about 2,196 Tennessee residents died as the result of Alzheimer’s disease, a debilitating condition which requires constant medical monitoring. That same study also found that nearly 29,000 residents were being treated for various forms of invasive cancer. The study furthermore revealed that about 13,456 Tennessee residents died from heart disease.

What does this mean? It means that there are strong health factors among Tennessee residents that are placing a greater burden on the healthcare system. This results in a more substantial need for specialty care, diagnostic imaging, physician evaluation, and sometimes even hospitalization. Health concerns like these are just some of the factors driving the need for medical assistants in Tennessee.
