During medical assisting training in Tennessee, the courses will prepare students to carry out certain medical procedures. Basic procedures are taught whether it is a one-year or two-year training program. Students are taught to take blood samples for analysis and administer injections. Students will be taught to monitor vital signs and take EKGs. It is common for students to assist in other minor medical procedures while under the supervision of a physician.

Other courses needed to become a certified medical assistant include introduction to medical assisting and technical communication. Basic filing and records management courses are required. Health Care Law and Ethnics is a requirement to pass medical assistant programs. Coding and insurance processing courses, as well as medical office management need to be taken. Pharmacology and clinical applications are also required to obtain a medical assisting certification in Tennessee. To gradate form a medical assistant program, the general education requirements must be met as well. Graduating from a program that provides Tennessee medical assistant training will greatly increase your chances of being hired quickly.
