Becoming a Medical Tech in Tennessee

Naturally, developments are made and the need for professionals to fill this role grows, so will the salary level. This is something to consider if one is planning to make a life in the state of Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Health follows the national standards for certification. This means that one need only enroll in and complete and associate level program at an institute of higher learning and following that, sit for the national certification exam administered by the Board of Certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

In order to sit for the exam, applicants must complete the associate degree in Medical Technology through one of the online or campus based Tennessee medical technician schools accredited to administer such a degree. Applicants will then request an application from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Applicants will return the application along with verification of the degree and any other requested materials, such as letters of recommendation. Once the application is accepted, the applicant will sit for the exam. Those who pass the exam with then become nationally certified.

Licensing in the field of Medical Technology in the state of Tennessee can be obtained by requesting and application for licensure from the Tennessee Department of Health. The application should be submitted along with transcripts and any applicable fees.
