Texas Massage Therapy Schools - TX

The exact training for each massage therapist can vary greatly depending on what massage specialties or techniques one chooses to focus on. There are currently around 1,500 massage therapy schools and programs, all with similar course content. The general course content of a Texas massage schools will consist of a combination of the following with additional courses specific to certain massages and techniques:
- Massage therapy techniques
- Massage therapy laws and rules
- Business practices and professional ethics
- Anatomy
- Physiology – the study of organs and tissues
- Kinesiology – the study of motion and body mechanics
- Pathology
- Hydrotherapy
- Health and hygiene
- First Aid
- CPR
Texas massage school will also involve a 50-hour internship that is required of all Texas massage therapists. This internship must be board-approved prior to beginning. It will consist mostly of hands-on practice of massage techniques and the application of the above courses.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Massage Therapists in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, El Paso, Arlington, Corpus Christi, Plano, Laredo, Lubbock and Amarillo, Texas may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Memorial Hermann Hospital, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital and Baylor Medical Centers.
