Texas Ultrasound Technician Schools - TX

There are 13 Texas ultrasound technician schools that have been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Of these 13 programs, seven offer a certificate option, and ten offer an associate's degree option. Typically, a certificate program is 48 coursework hours. This is designed as a one year full-time program with summer classes. It is a condensed version of the associate's option and is tailored towards an individual that already has a degree in an allied healthcare related field. An associate's degree is usually 66 coursework hours, which is designed as a two-year full time coursework schedule. The last semester usually involves a clinical externship. Since these diagnostic medical sonography programs are accredited, one may apply with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) for examinations to become a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) upon graduation.
