Utah Certified Nurse Assistant Training Programs

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) affects the quality of care provided to patients by assisting licensed nurses in patient care duties such as bathing and dressing, feeding , and measuring vital signs.

There are a number of CNA schools in Utah that are approved by the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) that will prepare the student for the Utah Certified Nursing Assistant examination. CNA training programs in Utah offer varying levels of classes, schedules and locations, including online learning, to meet the scheduling needs of students. A typical 135 hour CNA training program follows a high school schedule, meets daily or every other day, and meets the needs of students who want to learn at a detailed, more moderate pace. Other options are a 112 hour afternoon, evening or Saturday class schedule that runs for 14 weeks or an 88 hour Saturday class that meets for eight hours per week for 11 weeks, with students having a week between classes to study. There are also online programs that enable students to work at their own pace, according to their own schedules.

Students in Utah must have a high school diploma or a GED. As part of the admissions process, students must also pass a reading and mathematics skills test.
