Utah Nurse Informatics Certification - UT
In order to gain a nursing informatics certificate in Utah, individuals must register to take a national competency examination administered either through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). To apply for certification through the ANCC, individuals must hold an active RN license, at least two years of RN work experience, hold at least a baccalaureate degree in nursing, and complete a combination of required practical training and continuing education in healthcare informatics.
To apply for certification through the HIMSS individuals must either hold a baccalaureate degree along with five years of associate information and management system experience (three years focused on healthcare) or a graduate degree along with three years of associate information and management systems experience (two years in healthcare). After obtaining, completing, and submitting an application for certification through either of these agencies, approved applications will result in national examination. Upon passing examination, applicants will be issued a nurse informatics certification. Application and exam fees range between $300-390.
