The state of Utah requires that student obtain a bachelor’s or master’s degree in physical therapy by a nationally accredited school. The education and training received from a bachelor’s degree is sufficient to obtain licensure as a physical therapist; however, a master’s degree is highly recommended. Most of the options in terms of Utah physical therapy schools are online universities, which offer both convenience and flexibility.
Utah also keeps tight restrictions on continuing education requirements for physical therapists. In Utah, a physical therapist must complete at least 40 credit hours, that pertain to physical therapy, every two years and 6 of the credit hours must pertain to ethics and law regarding physical therapy.
These continuing educational requirements can be met by taking courses through the American Physical Therapy Association, the Utah Physical Therapy Association or a school accredited by CAPTE. In addition, physical therapists in Utah are required to renew their license every two years, assuming that all continuous education has been met, and the fee for this is $47.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Physical Therapists in Salt Lake City, West Valley, Provo and West Jordon, Utah may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Intermountain Medical Center, Saint Mark's Hospital, University of Utah Health Care and Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.References:
