Physician Assistant Program in Utah - UT
Physician assistant programs in Utah will include instruction in the classroom as well as the laboratory. Subjects covered are biochemistry, pathology, human anatomy, physiology, clinical pharmacology, clinical medicine, physical diagnosis and medical ethics. Supervised clinical training, which is also a required part of the physician assistant training and will provide valuable hands-on experience, includes instruction in family medicine, internal medicine, surgery, prenatal care and gynecology, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and pediatrics.
The State of Utah – Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing issues a biennial license to all physician assistants. The license expires on May 31st of each even-numbered year. Unlike other states, the renewal schedule for physician assistants in not based on the initial date of licensure. All licenses expire at the same time. If you possess a controlled substance license, it will also expire at this time and need to be renewed. Additionally, physician assistants must complete at least 40 hours for continuing medical education in Category I ACCME during each two-year license renewal cycle.
