Gaining employment is not the final step to becoming a radiology technician in Utah. Without continuing education in radiology, technicians lose their national certification, and as a result, their state license. Both the ARRT and the NMTCB require the completion of 24 continuing education hours over the course of two-years. Radiology professionals who fail to engage in and document continuing education credits cannot renew registration, and therefore cease to be certified. These CE credits are generally acquired through scheduled, professionally sponsored events or educational activities like lectures, coursework, clinical volunteering and online examinations.
